I don’t know about you, but I don’t need a quiz to tell me I’m a strong-willed wife. I’ve been known to always be right. Choke on apologies. Fix problems, even when they don’t need to be fixed. Tell my husband what to say on the phone or where to turn when headed home. My strong will has been quite the challenge in our marriage.
Maybe you’re thinking “I’m not strong-willed. I’m opinionated, bold, just plain smarter than everyone else… insert your word of choice.” I suppose there’s only one way to know. You ready? Here’s the link to the quiz. Print out two copies. Yes, two. One for you and one for your husband.
Obviously if you and you’re husband aren’t emotionally connected right now, it’s probably not a good time to have him reveal how strong willed you are. In that case, just take it yourself.
Casey and I did the quiz last night. I have to admit I was nervous to read his answers. Surprisingly, I put myself higher on the strong-willed scale than he did. However, we could both look at that quiz and celebrate the fact that 3 years ago, there wasn’t a single thing on that list that didn’t describe me. God has done a mighty work in this woman over the last 3 years. Have I lost my gumption, my backbone? Nope. I’ve just learned what it means to have a quiet, submissive spirit yet still be myself. As that seeps more and more into my heart, I’m gradually becoming more like the wife Christ wants me to be. Perfected? Not even close, but it sure feels good to be a couple notches down on that list!
